The Home Storage Centers (aka Canneries) are operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but are available to the public as well. Some people have known about them for years, but are often intimidated to go. I finally built up enough courage and stepped foot into my first one about 3 years ago! Each shift is 4.5 hours long. The Cannery produces peanut butter for the Food Bank every other Thursday. Main shifts are 7:30 AM-Noon and 11:30 AM to 4 PM. Each shift requires a team of 20-25 volunteers as well as 5 Cannery staff members. Volunteers are also very welcome at evening shifts: 3:30-8 PM, 7:30 PM-midnight, 11:30 PM-4 AM, or 3:30-8 AM .
